  • thank you

after posting on lovelyish, the comments were(for the most part) helpful. when it came down to it there were 12that said the darker of the two(9cb), 7 for the lighter and 10 for red ... so feeling a little adventurous, the winner is red. red-orange to be exact. slightly inspired by hayley williams [of paramore]

    supplies:

    -Zap It [sallys beauty supply]

  • i need your help

i am extremely indecisive ... right now i'm bored to death with my hair, usually i cut it all off but i'm trying to grow it out so i need a new color. i've been nearly every color under the sun, it's been black, pink, turquoise, all shades of brown. right now it's brown and in the light has a hint of red:

but the problem is i'm naturally blonde and light roots drive me CRAZY and i'm coloring it every 2 weeks. . . i'm thinking of a light-ish blonde :

or up for other suggestions ...my hair is in your hands

  • take care of your hair this summer

I don't know about you lovelies, but i do not look good in any hat. I've been seeing articles around that recommended the accessory to protect our hair this summer. I've got a better idea: fight your hair problems head on! The top 4 problems your hair probably faces this summer:

    1. Chlorine build up | lets face it- under water caps look awkward at pool parties.

    2. Frizz | humidity sucks. the end.

    3. Dull hair | whether it be artificially colored or virgin - the sun seems to dull out color.

    4. Dry ends | the sun does a lot of damage to our hair.

Here are my quick fixes/product knowledge to help you give your hair the TLC it needs and have your hair looking beautiful the rest of the summer.

    1. CLARIFY | whenever your hair goes under in the pool you should use a clarifying shampoo before you go to bed that night. it gets all dirt and oil out of the hair, so make sure you leave your conditioner on a few extra minutes afterwards. chlorine seems to make the hair tangle much easier, can turn your hair green, create a build up on the hair so thick when you run your fingers down the hair it squeaks like plastic on a couch. GET IT OUT ASAP. products to try: AG clarifying or Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three

    2. HUMIDITY RESISTANT | not always a myth. I used to think so because my hair ALWAYS would frizz like crazy with my waves. I use a spray that i put in wet and dry and have not had a problem with frizz this summer even in the northeastern heatwave this past week. products to try: it's a 10 shine spray (it's multiple products in one, it can also be used as a flat iron spray. an essential in my hair-care collection even when i travel)

    3. UV PROTECTORS | you put on sunscreen to protect your skin, why leave your hair out? now DO NOT go putting sunscreen in your hair. it's greasy and should be skin only. read the labels, there are many styling products that have UV protection. i recommend serums if your hair is thick, but there are sprays/mist out there for the finer haired ladies out there. products to try: Redken Color Extend Shine Enrich (serum) Redken Color Extend Total Recharge (spray)

    4. CONDITION | especially for the girls who love the pool. ONCE A WEEK (at least) take some time and give yourself a hair mask. cleaning? put it on, plastic bag on your hair -- clean, rinse it out: multi tasking! i wrote about my favorite one a few weeks back but for any hair mask i use different directions than the containers and it works great:

    • wash in warm water with clarifying shampoo (great if you go swimming during the day and you have some time at night)
    • towel dry and apply all over, comb through and make sure it's saturated in your hair
    • leave in at least 10 minutes
    • rinse in the coldest water you can stand

products to try: it's a 10 miracle mask or Paul Mitchell Hair Repair Treatment or Paul Mitchell Super Strong Treatment or Matrix Conditioning Balm (the list goes on and on really)

what are some of your favorite products? is this helpful?

  • mullets are bad.

    dear world,

THE MULLET IS DEAD. it's not cool, it's never coming back. remember that.

    kthnksbye. <3

Somehow I've seen more mullets than I'd like to (which would be ANY outside of old pictures) Few weeks ago a guy at the bar I frequent tried to tell me how he rocks a mullet & he's bringing it back. yeah ... NO. He was also at the bar alone, so oh yeah he's rockin'. What is wrong with people? This is not the 80's !! I'm a hairstylist in upstate New York, and i'm ashamed to say I've abided by client wishes and have cut a few (grumbling in my head after trying to talk them into a more flattering style and they're still adamant about it ...) Not just men from the 80's who can't seem to get over it either! there have been women and kids who want it .... ugh when they come in i think I've gone crazy.

Ladies -- we need to start a movement against this atrocious hairstyle! women against mullets (or people against mullets) [:
